Swinging butterfly wings made from sterling silver with titanium backing.
The titanium is heated with a handheld torch and as the metal heats up it oxidises in a bright range of colours like yellow, rich purple, strong blues and soft blue. Certain colours are drawn out by hotter flames and others by gentler soft flames. By using a torch to change the colour I am able to achieve a water colour style blend between colours. I have been using sterling silver wire to make invisible rivets to hold the silver wing and the titanium together.
