This is a one off ring made using the sand casting technique. The rough Australian sapphire was placed inside the sand mould and liquid sterling silver was poured into the mould wrapping around the stone and hold it securely in place as the metal cooled. The silver has been blackened to accentuate the organic texture the sand casting leaves on the surface of the metal.
